Innovation of the innovation process

Every healthy, competitive company is continuously improving or – even better - innovating to retain or increase its market share. New products are the perfect way to achieve this. Managing the innovation process is an essential part of this process.

As the organization grows, this process becomes more complex, as a result of e.g.:

- increased geographical spreading;
- mergers with companies which use other documents and procedures;
- increased cooperation with external partners or
- stricter regulation.

The innovation process is also under extreme time pressure. The first step towards a short time-to-market is a reliable execution of the process. This means a disciplined execution, the creation of a ‘sense of urgency’ at the front-end of the project and the use of all options to remove all insecurities from the projects as quickly as possible. One way to do this is to develop functional modules, which last several generations. Working in parallel also results in time saving, even though it can lead to larger project risks.

The basis of every innovation process is collecting and implementing knowledge. Structured and non-structured communication processes also play an important role. In processes, a lot of information is documented.
