Quality system, create or buy application

Quality system, make or buy. Many organizations struggle with this buying or making decision. Kwasystems are becoming management systems and therefore more extensive and complex. As a result, applications are increasingly needed to control all this. With external software applications you get the necessary expertise in-house, but your own software gives you the freedom to realize your own ideas. Flexibility and scalability is crucial

Knowing what the organization wants, now and in the future, means drawing up specifications. Drawing up that is something for the quality team and other stakeholders, not the IT. Because it is complicated to predict future needs, the application must be flexible and scalable. The ideal solution responds to the growth of the organization. Difficult, but not impossible!

User experience is the foundation

The user experience (UX) is essential for an effective application. Bought or made. The most fantastic application is of no use if the users do not use it. Users are 'genius' to burn down an application for whatever reason .... Interesting solutions fail in both the development and deployment phases due to poor user experience. Sharepoint or Confluence alone is not a QMS - Quality Management System.
Purchased systems have the advantage of being enriched with a variety of user experiences. That cannot be 'captured' in a short period of time.
 

Not a one-off project

The tasks of quality management change over time. Standards are updated, other standards or requirements become relevant. First it was quality (K), followed by health and safety and environment (KAM). The next expansion was Safety and Information Security Environment (QHSSE).
An application has to keep up with the times. The development of an application is not a one-time project.
